They Line Up With Their Dogs, But It’s The One On The Left You’ll Want To Watch. LOL!

Dog racing has been around for centuries, dating back to ancient Egyptian Pharaohs who would race their pups in order to determine who was the strongest, or more accurately, the weakest of all of them.

Typically, dog racing at a professional level includes a dog breed called Greyhounds; long, skinny, agile creatures that are able to sprint, while appearing as a cheetah to the rest of us mammals on the side line. These dogs are beautiful, graceful, and wonderful creatures, but they can’t compare to the beasts of today’s race.

For this group of friends, their Dachshunds and their friends family pool seemed like the perfect alternate to the long-legged Greyhounds we all know and love. It’s hot outside, they were all swimming, and of course their dogs deserve to get in on the fun too!

The friends all hold their Dachshunds carefully, in the air, not too close to the pool where they get too excited, but keeping their focus on the prize: the finish line.

One pup in particular seems to moving his legs in a way that signifies he is ready for the race. Watching this video, you probably notice his excitement bursting through his little legs and paws, but just wait until the owners set- or, in some cases throw, the pups in the pool!

Right off the back, our friend in the far left takes off a lead, with a couple trailing behind and one even swimming in circles at the beginning of the pool- er, raceway. That pup might be out of the race, but at least he tried, and got to cool down in the mean time!

The friend who was waiting at the far left continues on his journey, with his eye on the prize, and not too long passes before he makes it to a kiddie pool at the end of the pool where he can stand on all fours, and, of course grab the ball that has been waiting on him.

Turns out, just like in professional races where people use a device known as a fly to engage the Greyhounds to run, the five friends hanging by the pool used the pups favorite ball to create this fun filled, exercise inducing race. This means our friend in the far left might have had an unfair advantage- it was his ball!
